TMJ TreatmentsWe provide TMJ treatments that are non-invasive and can help you to feel healthy again.  TMJ is an issue that impacts millions of people though many are unaware that they even have it.  Some of the common symptoms are reoccurring headaches, jaw, face, and neck pain. Since these issues can also be attributed to back and shoulder problems, stress, or illness, some people simply write them off and live with the discomfort.  Fortunately, you don’t have to.

There are different schools of thought regarding what causes TMJ.  As such, there are several treatment options that you can consider.  While many doctors will recommend a type of surgery, we do not suggest this route since the data is conflicting, and the surgery is invasive.  Instead, we suggest that you use our non-invasive solution prior to considering any drastic action.

Our process begins by completing a dental exam and taking an impression of your teeth along with measurements.  This will be used to have a removable oral appliance created.  This will look like a full retainer with the main difference being that the upper and lower portion are attached in order to prevent your teeth from touching.  All you need to do is wear our TMJ treatments at night, and you should feel better.

Why do your TMJ treatments work?

It’s simple really.  We have found that many people suffer from TMJ because their teeth grind together or clench while they are sleeping.   This is something that you wouldn’t necessarily be aware of unless you noticed teeth damage.  For example, some people will notice strange ridges at the bottom of their teeth.  Otherwise, you may simply have the symptoms of headaches, jaw and face pain.  If this is the case, wearing an oral appliance will solve the problem because it will allow your jaw to relax while you sleep and prevent any grinding or clenching.  This way when you wake up your symptoms should be gone or greatly reduced.

Some people also notice that their discomfort is worse during times of high stress.  This can cause you to start grinding or clenching when you normally wouldn’t.  If your TMJ symptoms come and go, keep track of them and whether or not you were overly stressed or had a bad day.  If you start to recognize a pattern, we can create the oral appliance for you and you can use it during times of high stress only.  That way you don’t need to wear it every night.

Why should I treat my TMJ?

Beyond causing discomfort by way of jaw pain and headaches, if your TMJ is left untreated, it can create significant problems with your jaw.  Some people go from having slight irritation to being unable to chew certain foods or even open their jaw all the way.  Treating the condition early, therefore, is an important step in preventing further complications.  Simultaneously, if you are grinding or clenching your teeth, they could experience significant wear or become damaged.  We can help you to avoid this.
